Behind the Scenes: Ambrosia
Each Ambrosia begins in deep consultation with the collector. What custom colors, poetry, or imagery will be painted onto their panels? What is their story, and where will their Ambrosia live?
Then the workmanship begins—a precise system of reflective surfaces, custom structures, and modular panels. Cutting, fitting, assembly, final refinement, bringing an ever-changing architecture of light, color, space, and reflection into being.
The work demands exactness. Mirror surfaces are laser-cut, then mitered by hand; tolerances of a fraction of a degree must be met. Internal armatures of marine-grade birch, 3-D printed fixtures, and a proprietary mobility system remain entirely unseen in the finished piece—the engineering disappears so the light can do its work.
Each work is then crated to spec and travels—often across oceans—with Drue or her team flying ahead to install it by hand alongside the local crew.
