Sky Peel

OpenAI commissioned Drue Kataoka Studios to create Sky Peel for its Reimagined with ChatGPT Images campaign, a bespoke billboard artwork displayed in Miami near Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Sky Peel transforms a Miami glass-tower façade into a surreal trompe-l’oeil moment: a hand peels back the surface of the city like paper, revealing a bright blue sky underneath.

The work begins with architectural reality, then asks: what else could this surface become if imagination were allowed to intervene? What if the built environment could open? What if the everyday city could become a portal for wonder?

For this project, Drue Kataoka Studios used ChatGPT Images as a creative collaborator throughout the process — for ideation, prototyping, visual exploration, and refining the final image. The studio developed a collection of surreal architectural concepts using the same Miami façade, each imagining a different kind of hidden magic within the city in preparation for the project.
